In our previous blog, “Circle the Wagons and Set the Example” we shared that the average woman will apply deodorant on her underarm approximately 28, 740 times. Every day we use commercial deodorants and antiperspirants, we apply a host of toxic chemicals to our underarms. Aluminum is one of these toxic substances. So what happens when we expose ourselves daily, over a long period of time to this metal?
Aluminum is a metal that is not found naturally in the human body. While it is the third most common element found on earth in substances like soil, long term exposure to it has been linked to many conditions and diseases.
1. & 2. Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. While two different diseases, this is why aluminum is being linked to them. Aluminum attacks our nervous system. Our nervous system is the control center of our bodies. It regulates and controls every single cell, tissue, organ and function. When aluminum builds up in our system, it can lead to problems with our ability to think, remember and function. One brain autopsy study of elderly people found them to have aluminum levels twenty times higher than a middle aged group. It is in the elderly where we see diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s emerge. It is no wonder that long term exposure to aluminum is being linked with these two diseases.
3. Aluminum is also being found in breast tissue in patients diagnosed with breast cancer. As we have covered in several of our blogs, it only takes 26 seconds for our skin to absorb the chemicals we put on it into our bloodstream. Lymph nodes and breast tissue are found in the area under our arm: right where these antiperspirants are applied. According to Dr. Mercola, Aluminum salts can make up 25% of the volume of an antiperspirant. Women with breast cancer showed a higher concentration of aluminum in the breast tissue under and closest to the arm pit. Repeated, daily use of these antiperspirants lead to long term exposure to aluminum and can be linked to breast cancer.
Bottom line: long term exposure to aluminum can be linked to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, neurological dysfunction and breast cancer. Studies are still being done, but why would you want to risk your health and the health of those you love by applying an antiperspirant with aluminum in it? Evelyn Kay has NO ALUMINUM and no toxic chemicals. It is safe, effective and you don’t have to worry about using it daily.
